Insurance
Megan is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. With that said, she may not be in network with some of their plans. It is important that you call your insurance to verify she is in network. Megan is also in contract with Lyra Health, Inc which is an EAP. Megan accepts vouchers from The Loveland Foundation which provides Black Women and Girls 4-12 free sessions each year (must apply with Loveland and receive vouchers first).
There may be other insurance benefits you can utilize to cover your sessions. This includes the use of Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for your services. You can also check with your insurance about Out-of-Network Benefits. In some cases, you can get reimbursed for a portion of the visit. Many clients take their detailed receipt (called a “superbill”) directly to their insurance to see if they can get some of their session reimbursed.
In order to use insurance, a psychiatric diagnosis is placed on your permanent medical record. Paying privately for your services allows you to have your information kept completely private. It also provides better flexibility for the number of sessions you wish to have.
**If you decide to use out-of-network benefits, you will pay Rooted Wisdom Counseling directly at the time of your appointment and then you can take your superbill and submit that to your insurance company.
Cancellation Policy
Please contact me as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your session. If you cancel less than 24 hours of your scheduled appointment, you will be responsible for the cancellation fee at the time of your original appointment. You can contact me for cancellations and changes via phone or email. 507-321-9170 megantarmann@rootedwisdomcounseling.com
Questions to ask your insurance company if wanting to use out-of-network benefits
Good Faith Estimate
Under the law as of January 1, 2022, health care providers are required to provide those who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much mental health care will cost. You may ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule your service. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit here or call (800) 985-3059.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
